Life has taught me that amazing people do amazing things. There are a few people, after all, that authentically stand out.
One of my first clients as a Wyoming Entrepreneur business consultant was a LaBarge resident named Cheryl Pierce. When we first met she explained her plans of buying a world-famous diner in Manhattan and moving it to Wyoming. I still remember the shock and awe I experienced at hearing of such a bold, fascinatingly unusual, and fun business idea.
Yesterday, about two years after Cheryl and I first met, my family and I traveled to LaBarge to see the diner in full operation. Although the project had many setbacks, Cheryl beat them all and her efforts, along with many other people in her community, have developed into one of Wyoming's finest show pieces so says I.
Although much of the structure had to be rebuilt, many of the iconic elements of the late 1930s diner remain. The sequined sign on the front of the building is one example.
On the rear of the building is a patio with moons shaped into the concrete.
Our meals were excellent, and the service was to match. As we sat dining, we also found ourselves consuming the delicious atmosphere.
Our sweet trip to LaBarge ended with a huge smile from Cheryl and deserts so delicious that surely, they could only be found on the moon…
