I recently received a newsletter from Curt Clinkinbeard, Author and Director of Training at the FAMEE Foundation with these suggetions for small business owners today.
1) Get Back To Basics: do what you know you have to do, and do it better.
2) Take A Lesson From AA: focus on the things you can control, not those you can't.
3) Don't Listen To The Pessimists: stay positive, and things will get better.
4) Learn About Marketing: now is not the time to be doing less, but rather to be more focused about getting the most impact for your money.
Pretty good advise I believe. What do you think?

Good thoughts, Bruce. On your point about marketing and getting the most for your money I would strongly recommend people check out Andy Sernovitz's book "Word of Mouth Marketing: How Smart Companies Get People Talking."
It contains a lot of ideas on low-cost or free marketing strategies that will get people talking about your company.

I agree. This is the time when you need to look carefully at every expense and make sure every dollar is working as hard as possible.
